La serie Octomore 17 “Chromatic Signatures” è la diciassettesima collezione di single malt super-torbati prodotta dalla distilleria Bruichladdich sull’isola di Islay.
Come sempre, questa linea esplora il concetto di “equazione impossibile”, bilanciando una torbatura estrema con la delicatezza del distillato, l’influenza del legno e la provenienza dell’orzo.
Octomore 17.1, 59.7% Vol
Gli Octomore .1 vengono sempre invecchiato in botti di bourbon o di whisky americano, ma ogni anno il loro profilo aromatico cambia, a dimostrazione dell’impatto che il terroir e le mutevoli condizioni meteorologiche della costa frastagliata di Islay hanno su un single malt invecchiato per tutta la sua vita presso la distilleria Bruichladdich.
Octomore 17.2, 59.5% Vol
Octomore 17.2 viene distillato dallo stesso lotto di orzo Concerto scozzese continentale al 100% utilizzato per la versione .1.
Tuttavia, anziché essere invecchiato in botti di bourbon, ha trascorso del tempo in botti di rovere francese precedentemente utilizzate per la maturazione di vino rosso californiano, poi di bourbon e infine di Octomore. Il distillato è stato poi affinato in barrique di Porto di primo utilizzo.
Octomore 17.3, 60.9% Vol
Un whisky proveniente da una singola azienda agricola, un singolo campo e una singola annata. Un’esplorazione dell’influenza dell’orzo coltivato esclusivamente a Irene’s Field, presso la Octomore Farm, Islay.
Invecchiato per cinque anni completi in botti di bourbon di primo utilizzo e in botti di rovere europeo di secondo utilizzo, tra cui botti di Ribera del Duero, Sauternes, Eiswine e Syrah.
