È stato rilasciato il 7° aggiornamento della Mappa del Whisky Inglese. Sono oggi elencate ben 61 distillerie, un numero in crescita dell’11% rispetto alle 55 del 2024 (49 nel 2024, 40 nel 2022, 33 nel 2021, 24 nel 2020 e 14 nel 2016). Una crescita costante, da quando James Nelstrop ha iniziato a distillare il whisky single malt della distilleria St George’s, nel 2006.
L’inizio delle attività, nel 2022, della English Whisky Guild (EWG) ha portato agli ultimi complicati atti finali del riconoscimento dell’English Whisky come UK Geographical Indication.
La English Whisky Map
La distilleria Cooper King ha creato la prima English Whisky Map nel 2016 per promuovere la fiorente scena del whisky inglese. È ormai diventata una tradizione aggiornare e presentare una nuova edizione della mappa ogni anno, in occasione del giorno di San Giorgio, patrono nazionale.
A scopo di chiarezza, questa mappa presenta le distillerie di whisky inglesi che distillano la propria acquavite e la commercializzano con chiari legami l con la propria distilleria. Non sono stati inclusi marchi distillati da terzi, blended whisky o imbottigliatori indipendenti.
